Sustain Solar builds solar power into shipping containers, so energy can be dropped where the grid never reached. This was documentary work for that, under the USAID banner. The equipment, yes, but mostly the people and the places it was going to.
Development photography has a failure mode, the pitying frame, and I work hard to avoid it. The aim here was straight documentary. Show the thing working, show the people it works for as people, and let the significance carry itself without a filter of sentiment over the top.
